MOTHxp, The Weekly Dish and friends present a cool and creative evening of appreciation for surf culture, arts, photography, celebration and entertainment.
An array of board shapers, artists, designers, professionals and advocates of the surf community will share their work within The Mill House’s awesome space at Maui Tropical Plantation, located at 1670 Honopi’ilani Hwy. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Take a scroll around the picturesque grounds of the revamped Mill House venue in Waikapu, and check out some of Maui’s most crafty in the surf community.
There will be a beautiful opening chant and performance by the amazing Makamae Murray and Manutea Nui E around 7 p.m. Then, the bad boys of Maui’s mighty art rock band, MOTHxp, will take the stage for long, rip-roaring set that includes new music and performers.
Featured creative craftsman and artists include Ian Strickland, Mike Neal, Matthew Smith of Maui Shapes, Nugget, SOS, Dwanye Ignacio, Justin Pony, Dot Glassing, Ambc Hawaii, Arie Bikinis, Indie Attire, Epic Aerial Productions and many more.
Presale tickets are $15, and it’s $20 at the door.
Stick around after and hang out with the musicians and artists, and dance and drink this first day of summer away with us. The outdoor rail car bar will be open, with a toasty fireplace and the West Mountains cascading in the backdrop. :-)
FUN FACTS ABOUT THIS DAY, JUNE 21:
- International Surfing Day is celebrated on June 21, 2014, and is an unofficial, environmentally-friendly holiday that celebrates the sport of surfing, its lifestyle and the sustainability of our ocean resources.
- It is Summer Solstice on June 21, the longest day of the year, when the sun reaches the highest point in the sky.
- And, according to Nickelodeon, it is the official “Going Out to Play Day” so you just have to come out.
On Saturday, June 21, at The Mill House there will also be a local swimwear walk-off, a board giveaway to presale tickets holders, and lots of useful ocean literature to keep you in touch with the surf community.
Wear comfortable, sexy and loose clothing if you like, and sport any handmade and vintage attire as well. Think of a ’40s/’50s beach party and lots of groovy artists. Joints outside and nipples must be covered, please… ;-)
Come have some fun, support some great artists, rock out to the excellence of MOTHxp and troupe, and feel the good vibes with us at the gorgeous, mountainside venue on Maui Tropical Plantation.
More information (Including announcements on additional artists, entertainment and giveaways) will be available at The Weekly Dish, and with MOTHxp on facebook.
